Thanks to the fierce competition in Japan air travel market, the domestic airfares in Japan has decreased significantly in recent years. Hereunder is the list of air carriers offering cheap flights in Japan:

Air Do – The first low cost air carrier in Japan.

Jetstar, an Australian LCC has flights from Australia to Nagoya and Osaka.

Skymark Airlines serves flights from Tokyo to Fukuoka, Sapporo, Kobe and Naha.

Skynet Asia Airways operates flights from Tokyo to Miyazaki, Kumamoto and Nagasaki.

StarFlyer flies between Tokyo and Kitakyushu (close to Fukuoka) multiple times daily.

For some routes, flights are a bit cheaper than Shinkansen (bullet train, a network of high-speed railway lines in Japan operated by four Japan Railways Group Companies)
